Why is this program being offered?

For 22 years Earth Mountain Education Farm has been facilitating dynamic hands-on programs for youth. Due to many factors, including but not only, COVID-19, it is an unprecedented time in which our children are increasingly spending more and more time being on-line and indoors. Many children now, suffer from what has been coined by experts as, “Nature-Deficit Disorder”. This reality has detrimental effects on how children and future generations view our natural world and move within it to get their needs met. It is ever so pressing as a society to pay close attention to how we use resources and to maintain and teach respect for our lifegiving systems and each other. Keeping connected to nature keeps us grounded and remembering we are all a part of a living world!

Each age group build on their skills throughout the 5-month program, earning rewards for skills gained, and working towards final accomplishment of individual and group goals.
The Trailblazers: ages 5-8  Focus on exploration of the natural world, inspiring self-confidence and  learning how to utilize and care for natural resources. Earn your feathers!
The WoodsWalkers: ages 9-14  Focus on hands-on skill building, survival skills of the wild, and personal challenges. Accomplish the Woods Walk team challenge!
The Guardians: ages 14-18  Focus on leadership, environmental and social justice, trade skills such as carpentry, blacksmithing, agriculture, and action projects. Accomplish the Guardian Honor Challenges !
